What to expect

We encourage everyone to bring their own yoga mat, although we do offer mats for rent. You may also want to bring some water and a towel. You will get sweaty in most of our classes (with the exception of stretch and restorative). At Yoga Vibe, we like to tune out the world, turn off our minds and get lost in the flow! Each class is different so try them all!

Yoga Vibe opened its doors in January 2012. Owners Larry and Amy Santiago set out to create a space with a great vibe... a neighborhood vibe, a community vibe... where yoga is fun, playful and full of energy. Beginners and seasoned yogis alike are welcome in a warm and friendly environment. We hope Yoga Vibe is a place you'll call home. It is set in a craftsman house, transformed into one of the most quaint and inviting yoga studios in LA, and with complimentary hot tea and free WiFi, the atmosphere couldn't be cozier!

    Where did you grow up?

    I grew up in the Cajun capitol of the world, Lafayette, Louisiana. Every year on my birthday, we still have a big family crawfish boil back home.

    What's your guilty pleasure?

    I'm quite the baker, so my guilty pleasures typically involve sweet, melty chocolate, golden brown crusts and/or rich, soft centers

    Favorite LA spot or scenic view?

    I love the view of the entire city after the hike up to the Griffith Observatory. On a clear day, it's absolutely beautiful, but also humbling to see how expansive this town truly is

    Favorite yoga pose?

    Trikonasana (Triangle Pose), I'm all about the sweet stretch in the hips and hamstrings.

Elyse Briggs, NCTMB, RTT, ERYT-500

Elyse is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, a Licensed Massage Therapist, a registered THAI Therapist and a certified and nationally registered teacher of both massage and yoga therapies with a private practice in Glendale, CA. Her focus is helping people get through and manage chronic pain and to age gracefully since she's not getting any younger HERSELF!!

Elyse is also the author of the DVD series, Stretch In Time® to help seniors improve the health of their spines and to stretch major joints and muscles with 5 simple exercises. This motivational DVD for seniors who are both Hearing and Deaf or Hard of Hearing emphasizes the importance of building strength and endurance as people age.

Carl Dawson ERYT-500

Carl has studied Yoga for 36 years and has held class for 31 years. Carl began his teaching journey in 1983 with a Teacher training with Ganga White and the White Lotus staff and repeated the training with Ganga the following year. He started holding class at "The Center for Yoga" in late 1984 and is still teaching and learning! Carl studied and held class at The Iyengar institute from 1987-1991 and has held workshops and teacher trainings in California and Oregon. Carl's Senior instructors include: Scott Hobbs, Mary Dunn, Dona Holleman, John Schumacher, Ramanand Patel, John Friend, Aadil Palkhivala, Ganga White. His teaching style is described in the introduction to "Light On Yoga," B.K.S. Iyengar says: "Perform your asana with the heart of a child."

Niki Sacceraccia ERYT-500

Niki Saccareccia is the founder of Light Inside Yoga - a resource for those looking to live healthier, creative lives. Niki teaches breath-driven, mindful movement to reconnect you to the ultimate source of well-being through the method of hatha yoga. Niki is 500RYT, a published author and Behavior Therapist. Her classes focus on the marriage of awareness in mind and body. Niki's practice is influenced by the likes of her parents, her students, Sigrid Matthews, Mark Whitwell, Leslie Kaminoff, T. Krishnamacharya, J. Krishnamurti and Patanjali.

Darby Orr RYT-200

Darby began his Yoga journey years ago as a way of creating balance in his life amid career stress, long hours sitting in front of a computer and relationship changes. Through Yoga he developed physical strength and flexibility, mental focus and, to his surprise, a renewed and joyous creative spirit. Inspired to share Yoga’s transformational gifts, he formally began his Yoga training with The White Lotus’ Ganga White.

Darby's classes emphasize the perfection of the present moment and the enjoyment of the journey. There’s laughter, sweat and an eclectic mix of music to lift the spirit and impart a sense of balance both physically and mentally. He is continually inspired by his students and feels truly blessed to be a guide, partner and witness to their yoga experience.

Elaine McCoy RYT-500

Elaine discovered yoga in 2001 while studying Thai Massage in Chiang Mai. By experiencing the benefits of hatha yoga, she left Thai Massage behind and began practicing yoga at an Iyengar based studio where she received her 200 and 300 certification. She has been teaching since 2011. She also has her certification in Yoga Tune Up® and Therapeutic Yoga.

Malona Alexander ERYT-500

Malona has been practicing yoga since 1969. She received her first yoga teacher certification in 1976 and was certified in the B.K.S. Iyengar system in 1981. Malona has been teaching over 35 years. She is also an AmSat certified Alexander Technique teacher since 1990. One of her greatest joys is in helping students find greater ease, confidence and creativity in their practice and life.

Alex Ellis ERYT-500

Led by her desire to help others take control of their health, Alex began teaching after completing a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Biology at UC Davis. With a strong background in anatomy and physiology, Alex strives to empower people to improve their health and well being through a personal movement practice and enhanced body awareness. She is an Integrated Yoga Tune Up® instructor and specializes in injury prevention and rehabilitation. A self-professed body nerd, Alex is an Integral Anatomy student of Gil Hedley’s. Alex’s classes combine her knowledge of the body in a fun and practical way to allow clients to develop a better sense of themselves. When not playing with her therapy puggle, Alex is constantly working on becoming a Supple Leopard.

Frances Rothenberg ERYT-500

Frances Rothenberg was introduced to yoga seventeen years ago and credits yoga for transforming her life physically, mentally and spiritually. She holds a degree in Kinesiology from U.C.L.A. and has worked in medicine for thirty years. She truly believes that to experience our lives to the fullest, our bodies were meant to move. Thus, her teaching style reflects an emphasis on breath and movement to maintain a healthy mind-body connection. Having studied with numerous amazing teachers, she has synthesized many styles into a stew of slow flow with alignment based postures and breath awareness. She received her 200 hour teacher certification from Yoga at the Village and her 300 hour advanced training from Black Dog Yoga under the mentorship of Sigrid Matthews. In addition, she holds a certification in Therapeutic yoga and is a certified Level 1 Yoga Tune Up® teacher.

Marina Lähteenmäki RYT-200

For Marina, yoga is about doing what you can, with what you have, where you are. This idea that yoga is open and available, no matter what your personal story may be, is what turned yoga from a physical practice to a life practice for Marina. She found that through continual practice she was not only strengthening her body but also learning to calm her mind. Marina completed her training and mentorship in New York City where she taught before moving to and teaching in Helsinki, Finland. She is excited to be back in her hometown and a member of the Yoga Vibe at the Village family!

This series will have an emphasis on the standing poses, helping students to develop strength, flexibility and balance. Malona will give students individual corrections, props and adjustments.
